Warner Bros. and New Line’s “The Nun II” launched the fall box office season with an impressive $32.6 million domestic opening across 3,726 theaters. This formidable performance was more than enough to outshine “The Equalizer 3” and secure the top spot for the weekend. A significant 67 percent of ticket buyers fell within the 18 to 34 age group, while the audience slightly skewed towards female viewers at 52 percent.
Comparatively, in 2018, “The Nun” debuted with $53.8 million domestically and went on to amass an impressive $365.6 million worldwide – marking the highest-grossing film in The Conjuring horror franchise, without adjusting for inflation. Although the sequel’s domestic opening fell short of the first film’s debut, it was still a remarkable success. Overall, the weekend’s domestic revenue reached an estimated $88.9 million, marking a remarkable 118 percent increase compared to the same weekend last year.
